NIHR Receives a Delegation from the US House of Representatives and Senate Staff
Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received at the NIHR headquarters in Seef District a delegation of a number of the US House of Representatives and Senate Staff, on the occasion of the delegation’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of a number of members of the NIHR’s Board of Directors and the NIHR’s Secretary-General.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Derazi welcomed the visiting delegation, and pointed out the importance of those visits for understanding the human rights achievements and progress in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Then, he gave them an audiovisual explanation of the NIHR’s role in spreading, promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, its advisory role in raising relevant human rights recommendations, and its effective role during the Covid-19 pandemic through its diligent follow-up to the precautionary measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat the spread of the pandemic and the lack of impact of these measures on the human rights of citizens and residents alike.
In response to whether religious minorities in Bahrain practice their rites freely, Al-Derazi explained that the practice of religious rites in Bahrain comes falls the framework of ensuring public and personal freedoms and equality for all without discrimination based on race, language, religion or gender, and stated that the religious minorities enjoy their full position in society.
