National Institution for Human Rights participates in the workshop in Doha on (establishment of national institutions in compliance with the Paris Principles and its role in the international system)
His Excellency Dr. Hameed Hussein, member of the NIHR's Council of Commissioners, participated in a workshop on (establishment of national institutions according to Paris Principles and its role in the international system, held to mark the opening of the Asia-Pacific Forum regional office in Doha, in partnership with the National Committee for Human Rights in Qatar and Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions.
The regional office activity provides a mechanism aimed at the development of national institutions in western Asia, strengthening ties, and supporting the development of regional expertise among national institutions in Asia-Pacific Forum.
The workshop discussed, over two days, a number of important topics including the provision of an overview of national institutions and their role in the international system of human rights as well as defining the international human rights systems and establishing national institutions defined in accordance with the Paris Principles.
The discussions also included international relations relating to the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and its Sub-Committee on Accreditation, the World Association of National Institutions, and Asia Pacific Forum.
A number of important themes pertaining to the establishment of systematic work of national human right institutions.
