NIHR Participates in a Training Course on “Promoting Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health through Human Rights Mechanisms”
The Secretariat-General of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has participated virtually in the regional training course organised by the Arab Organisation for Human Rights entitled “Promoting Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health through Human Rights Mechanisms”. The course discussed violations of a set of sexual and reproductive rights through approaching human rights and studying the stages of development of sexual and reproductive health rights.
The 5-day course, which was held with the participation of many experts and practitioners in this field, aimed to identify and define sexual and reproductive rights and the gaps in them, the stages of development of sexual and reproductive rights and the stages of development through international conventions, and discuss the most prominent problems and the reality of sexual and reproductive rights in the Arab Region, without neglecting the statement of monitoring and documentation indicators in the same field for women and girls, while defining human rights contractual mechanisms, the role of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and how civil society organisations deal with international human rights mechanisms.
