NIHR’s Chairperson meets with the Independent Expert at the UN Committee on the Rights of Child
Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received in her office Mrs. Amal Salman Al-Doseri, the Independent Expert at the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC). She welcomed the visit and praised Mrs. Al-Doseri’s prominent role in the UN Committee on the Rights of Child and her hard work related to childhood and youth.
During the meeting, Ms. Khouri stated that the rights of the child are an integral part of human rights and are guaranteed in various local laws and international conventions, stressing that the Kingdom of Bahrain has legalized the rights of the child through issuing many decrees and laws related to childhood.
She also stressed that the NIHR is working with its broad mandate, as per its Establishment Law pursuant to the Paris Principle, to follow-up the implementation by the government of the articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
For her part, Mrs. Amal Al-Doseri expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Chairperson of the NIHR for receiving her at the NIHR’s headquarters, noting the great and essential role adopted by the NIHR in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the need to strengthen cooperation between the two sides, which is important to support efforts to achieve common goals.
