NIHR receives Chairperson and Members of ASRY Labour Union

Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), met received Mr. Abdullah Hassan Al-Masih, President of ASRY Labour Union and members of the Union Board, welcoming their visit and the good initiative to open avenues of joint work between the two parties, stressing the NIHR’s support for everything that contributes to the promotion and protection of labour rights at different positions, due to the important role of Bahraini workers in building the country.

During the meeting, which was attended by some members of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners and Secretary General, the President of ASRY Labour Union praised the NIHR’s important role in the promotion and protection of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, reviewing the developments of the workers' affairs in the company, especially after the company has fallen under the portfolio of the National Oil and Gas Authority.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed on a number of joint activities that are in the interest of promoting union and human rights work.  The President and members of ASRY Labour Union appreciated the NIHR’s initiatives aimed at creating a fabric of relations and communication with labour unions and civil society organizations, thanking them for their endeavors in promoting and protecting human rights in Bahrain.
