NIHR Conducts Announced Visit to the Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Jau
A delegation from the Council of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) conducted an announced field visit to the Correction and Rehabilitation Center in the Jau to assess the conditions of inmates and closely observe their living circumstances, as well as the quality of services provided to them in the areas of healthcare and daily living. The visit also aimed to verify the extent to which the center's operations align with national legislation and international human rights standards.
During the visit, the delegation met with several inmates and listened to their feedback and concerns, which primarily revolved around living and healthcare conditions. They also called for broader implementation of the Alternative Sentencing Law and the Open Prisons Program. The findings of the visit will be compiled into a detailed report containing recommendations, which will be submitted to the relevant authorities.
In this context, the NIHR reaffirms its commitment to working with the competent authorities to follow up on the inmates' requests in a manner that supports their rehabilitation and facilitates their reintegration into society in a positive and constructive way.
