Chairman of NIHR receives the High Commissioner for Human Rights Delegation
HE Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul, Chairman of NIHR received a delegation from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights at the Inistitution’s headquarter in the Seef District.
The visit was aimed at the revival of the technical cooperation between the UNHCR and the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the visit, the Chairman reviewed the most important developments in the institution in terms of its objectives and terms of reference since inception through Law No. 26 of 2014. HE the Chairman emphasized the importance of activating the cooperation and exchange of information on human rights between the two entities in addition to the importance of the transfer of expertise through the establishment of workshops for the promotion and protection of human rights, stressing the desire of the institution to provide the necessary and continuous support for the work of the delegation.
From his side, the High Commissioner for the Human Rights delegation praised on the role of NIHR in spreading the culture of human rights and extended his gratitude for the role they play in society aimed at promoting human rights. In addition, the delegation expressed its readiness to provide all the support and assistance for the institution to achieve its objectives and terms of reference, noting that UNHCR has previously cooperated with NIHR in holding a number of workshops on human rights in Bahrain in April 2014.
