NIHR Receives Special Representative of the British Prime Minister, the Minister of State for Commonwealth Affairs and the United Nations to the United Kingdom
Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has received at the NIHR headquarters in the Seef District, Lord Tarek Ahmed, the Special Representative of the Prime Minister and Minister of South Asia, the United Nations and the Commonwealth at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development in the United Kingdom, on the occasion of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Derazi welcomed Lord Ahmed, stating the depth of the historical relations that unite the two friendly countries and the need to continue strengthening bilateral relations between them in various fields, especially with regard to exchanging expertise in human rights and working to develop the human rights system and put it into practice in accordance with the regionally and internationally established regulations and rules.
Al-Derazi gave a brief on the NIHR’s work, its role in spreading, promoting and protecting human rights, and its efforts in following up on the human rights situation during Covid-19 pandemic to monitor the human rights situation.
At the end of the meeting, Lord Ahmed expressed his appreciation for the NIHR’s efforts in promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stating the importance of the role of human rights institutions in supporting and protecting human rights.
