NIHR Chairperson is looking into Ways to activate Mechanisms of Communication with Director-General of Reform and Rehabilitation

Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) received at the NIHR’s headquarters in the Seef District Brigadier-General Abdel-Salam Yousef Al-Arifi, Director-General of Reform and Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Interior. Ms. Maria Khouri welcomed Brigadier-General Abdel-Salam Yousef Al-Arifi and congratulated him on the royal trust by appointing him as Director-General of the General Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation, wishing him every success in his new position.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of themes of common interest as well as ways of activating communication mechanisms and exchange of experiences, where Ms. Khouri praised constructive cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the NIHR, which aims to preserve human dignity and safeguard human rights, emphasizing that all complaints and requests of legal assistance received by the relevant authorities are highly regarded by them, and that they do not hesitate to provide all possible assistance, whether applied personally or via the toll-free (80001144), the website (www.nihr.org.bh) or the smart phone application (NIHR Bahrain).

For his part, Brigadier-General Al-Arifi praised the NIHR’s efforts and its relentless attempts to promote human rights and enhance its culture within society.  He pointed out that the General Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation shall witness a development of services provided to inmates at all levels during the coming period, in light of the great interest paid by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to implement the reform programs and upgrade inmates within the framework of the Minister of Interior’s development and modernization strategy.
