NIHR Organizes a Round Table on “Distance Education in light of the Coronavirus Pandemic”
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized a round table entitled “Distance Education in light of the Coronavirus Pandemic between Reality and Expectations” by teleconference, in order to highlight the efforts of the relevant authorities I dealing with the challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), with the participation of representatives of the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council and a number of the concerned schools and universities, in addition to the participation of representatives of a number of relevant civil society organizations.
The event was moderated by Mrs. Wedad Al-Moosawi, a member of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners, who discussed the role of the NIHR in promoting and protecting the right to education in light of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) and the efforts made by the relevant authorities in the Kingdom to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on education.
She also discussed the most important challenges facing education in public and private schools and universities, and the most prominent challenges related to providing the right to education for all groups of society in light of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and ensuring the continuation of the educational process, as well as discussing the reality and prospects of distance education in light of the pandemic, especially with regard to educational content and students.
During her intervention in the event, Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the NIHR, appreciated the great measures and efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat this pandemic, through which it took into account the human rights in general for citizens and residents alike without discrimination, which includes the right to education and ensuring the continuity of the educational process in light of the global spread of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), noting the NIHR’s role in following the relentless efforts of the concerned authorities to promote and protect the right to education during this pandemic, and the precautionary measures taken by those authorities to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
