NIHR looks forward to to Strengthen Cooperation with the British Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain
Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has received at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef district His Excellency Mr. Stuart Summers, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain and Mrs. Sherrill Edes, Head of the Department of Political Affairs, Media and Public Relations at the British Embassy, on the occasion of the expiration of the latter’s work term in Bahrain and Ms. Lauren Gummer assuming her duties.
During the meeting, Ms. Khoury welcomed the active and continuous cooperation with the Embassy, reviewing the NIHR’s efforts in light of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) through field visits to isolation and quarantine centres, correction and rehabilitation centres and detention centres. The two sides also discussed a number of issues related to the protection and promotion of human rights, especially in the field of training. They discussed strengthening cooperation and joint coordination to unify efforts in areas related to human rights.
