NIHR’s Chairperson Discusses several Issues of Common Interest with the Russian Ambassador

Ms. Maria Khouri, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights, received in her office HE Mr. Vagif Garaev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the reception, she underlined the depth and strength of the relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the friendly Federal Republic of Russia and its remarkable growth in various fields.

During the meeting, Ms. Khouri spoke about Bahrain’s special interest in human rights since the inauguration of the reform project of His Majesty the King, represented in the establishment of a number of human rights institutions and associations.

Ms. Khouri also presented a summary of the most prominent achievements and challenges in the area of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as the role of the NIHR in dealing with them, thus contributing to the Kingdom’s being a pioneering model in human rights practice.

For his part, the Russian Ambassador welcomed the humanitarian work performed by the NIHR, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the good hosting, stressing the need to achieve cooperation through coordination between the two countries in the area of human rights for the benefit to all.
