The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) announces, in cooperation with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the UNDP, the organization of a forum titled "Advancing Business and Human Rights," as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the private sector's commitment to human rights principles.

The forum, scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to create a space for dialogue among representatives from various sectors to discuss current challenges and efforts in this area, and to review experiences and proposed solutions for achieving best practices in business and human rights.

On this occasion, Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of NIHR, stated that the forum represents an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and develop cooperation networks, encouraging companies to adopt high standards that ensure respect and promotion of human rights within the workplace and broader business environments. This includes raising awareness of the importance of human rights in business practices and their impact on sustainability and economic growth.

The forum will feature a range of local and international experts, including representatives from the United Nations, human rights experts, business leaders, and representatives from non-governmental organizations. The sessions will cover various topics on integrating international human rights standards with business practices, and there will be opportunities for direct interaction and participation in discussions aimed at deepening understanding and enhancing companies' commitment to human rights.
