Child Rights Commissioner Reviews the Mechanism for Providing Educational Services to Young Inmates
In light of the coordination and cooperation between the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) and government institutions, a visit was organized to the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center in Hidd. The visit was attended by Dr. Hooreya Aldairi, Child Rights Commissioner at NIHR, Mr. Ibrahim Al Borshaid, the Assistant Undersecretary for Education at the Ministry of Education, and a group of specialists from the ministry. The purpose of the visit was to examine the procedures for providing educational services to inmates who wish to continue their education within the center.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the center's supervisor and specialized officers, where Dr. Aldairi emphasized the importance of the partnership between the Ministries of Interior and Education. This partnership ensures the continuity of educational services within the center and facilitates inmates' access to these services. She highlighted that education is a fundamental element in the process of reform and rehabilitation and noted the high level of cooperation between the two ministries to enhance educational services for inmates and provide the necessary resources for them to benefit from the electronic services available through the digital educational platform.
