NIHR Participates in the Second Arab Conference of National Human Rights Institutions and Representatives of Arab Ministries of Interior in Cairo
The National institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by Mr. Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Sha'er, NIHR Vice-Presidency, has participated in the agenda of the Second Arab Conference of National Human Rights Institutions and Representatives of Arab Ministries of Interior on the prospects for cooperation in protecting and promoting human rights between ministries of interior and national human rights institutions in the Arab region, under the theme "Best Practices, Challenges and Visions of Cooperation", which was convened in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
As part of the conference, which was held over two consecutive days, Al-Sha'er presented a working paper in which he touched on the experience of the NIHR in visiting correction institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with regard to the best practices, experiences and challenges, including a review of the NIHR's efforts in this regard, in addition to the feasibility of its follow-up reports on declared and undeclared field visits, and presented a number of proposals to enhance cooperation in protecting human rights and raising capabilities through training and awareness programmes.
