A delegation from NIHR conducted a field visit to the Southern Governorate Police Directorate (West Riffa)
In accordance with the authorities endowed to the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) for safeguarding and advancing human rights as specified in its establishing law, the Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee of the NIHR undertook a supervisory visit to the Southern Governorate Police Directorate (West Riffa). This visit aimed to evaluate the human rights conditions and confirm that detainees are afforded their rights as protected under national laws and pertinent international norms.
During their visit, the delegation was informed through a visual presentation that succinctly covered the procedures and services implemented at the directorate. The delegation also examined the role of the Family and Child Protection Office. The visit encompassed a thorough tour of the directorate’s various departments, detention areas, and related facilities and services.
