NIHR Participates in the Regional Dialogue Forum on Education in Cairo
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by Dr. Malallah Al-Hammadi, member of the NIHR Council of Commissioners, has participated in the Regional Dialogue Forum hosted by Cairo, the capital of Egypt, for two consecutive days, on "The Future of Education and Human Rights Education in the Arab Region: for a new social contract", in cooperation and partnership between the Arab Institute for Human Rights (AIHR), the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRI), the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) in Egypt, the League of Arab States (LAS), the UNESCO, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR).
Dr. Al-Hammadi presented a worksheet in which he discussed the NIHR's efforts in following up on public and private educational institutions with the aim of closely examining the procedures and services provided by those entities to individuals and the extent of their compatibility with the basic principles of human rights standards, within the framework of the oversight role of the NIHR's work, in addition to the efforts that the Kingdom of Bahrain has made to give special attention and care to the right to education, which is considered a guarantee to enable and strengthen the exercise of other relevant human rights.
The forum, which was held with the participation of the competent authorities in the member states, including ministries and national institutions, as well as experts from international and regional organisations, has witnessed a discussion of the future of education, ways to enhance the integration of education on human rights and citizenship into educational curricula, and a presentation and exchange of experiences and expertise among the participating parties in this field, in addition to identifying the most important trends and methodologies aimed at preparing a vision for developing education in a changing world.
