NIHR’s Chairperson meets with the Director of Caabu

24 Jun 2017

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Chairperson Mr. Saeed bin Mohamed Al-Faihani, met with Mr. Chris Doyle, Director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding (Caabu), on the sidelines of the current visit by a delegation of the NIHR to London.

At the beginning of the meeting, the NIHR’s Chairperson welcomed Mr. Doyle, praising the two countries’ strong and privileged relations that are reinforced by mutual cooperation in various fields.  He reviewed NIHR’s strategy, goals and role in the promotion and protection of human rights under the reform era of His Majesty King of Bahrain, may God protect him, who promoted the establishment of the values and principles of human rights and the preservation of freedoms through His Majesty’s support for human rights institutions, including the NIHR.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the measures to sever the diplomatic relation with the State of Qatar, which were carried out by a number of Arab countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain, as a result of Qatar’s failure to abide by the Riyadh Agreement and its continuity to support, finance and host the terrorist and extremist organizations, pointing out that the decisions that were taken did not result in any violation of human rights, and that they were taken in full compliance with the principles and foundations of International Public Law, stressing the keenness of the severing Gulf countries to the sisterly Qatari people, which is a natural extension of their brothers in these countries, which have taken a variety of measures that aim at caring for humanitarian and health situations, if any, in addition to assigning hotlines in each country to receive cases and take appropriate actions.
