NIHR Conducts a Field Visit to the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre in Jaw Region
The National institution for Human Rights (NIHR) monitored what was reported on some social media regarding the transfer of a group of inmates of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre to Shamil Healthcare Centre after receiving late treatment and healthcare, which caused their health status to ger worse.
Based upon the NIHR competencies to conduct field visits to ensure the availability of human rights, a delegation from the NIHR conducted an inspection visit to the Correction and Rehabilitation Centre in the Jaw region to find out the requests of the inmates concerned with monitored case and ensure that they enjoy their rights guaranteed under national legislation and international human rights standards.
During the visit, the delegation examined the condition of the inmates and met with a number of them to ensure that they enjoy their rights guaranteed by law, especially with regard to detention procedures, medical examination and prevention of infectious and non-infectious diseases, for the safety of inmates, in accordance with the procedures taken in such cases.
