NIHR President is exploring Ways to strengthen Cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross

HE Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), received Mr. Renaud Carvalho, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s newly-appointed representative to the Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of Mr. Abdulla Alderazi, NIHR’s Vice Chairperson, and Ms. Deena Alladhi, Member of the Council of Commissioners.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. Khoury welcomed the visit and discussed means of enhancing the joint cooperation between the NIHR and the ICRC in the human rights area, commending the important role played by the ICRC through the establishment and dissemination of a culture of human rights and the development of the skills and potentials of staff in this area.

For his part, Mr. Carvalho expressed his deep appreciation for the good reception, praising the NIHR’s efforts in the promotion and dissemination of the culture of human rights, showing his willingness to cooperate and provide all means of support to achieve the common goals.
