The event was opened by Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadel, NIHR’s acting Secretary-General, who welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of this national Program in increasing the human rights awareness and reducing the gap between the theory and practice, stressing that the NIHR will spare no effort to do its best in order to develop the legal and human rights capabilities of our students pursuant to the established rules, wishing the participants all success and progress.

In a related context, Mrs. Lateefa Al-Jalahma, Director of Legal Affairs and Training, gave a lecture on the concept and role of the national institutions in the protection and promotion of human rights, as well as a brief on NIHR’s establishment and its development stages.

The Program is also implemented with participation of some specialized cadres from the NIHR.  The Program shall continue for a full semester (two days per week) involving a number of students chosen by the HRLC in the University of Bahrain.

It is worth mentioning that this event is covered by NIHR’s terms of reference in the area of enhancing and disseminating human rights by holding training and educational lectures and courses for all social classes, especially the university students, on the human rights themes.
