NIHR’s Vice chairperson Meets with the Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee in Qatar
On the sidelines of the 21st annual meeting of Asia and Pacific Forum (APF) held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Vice chairperson Mr. Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi met with Head of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in Qatar Dr. Ali bin Smaikh. The meeting was attended by Chairpersonn of Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee Ms. Maria Khouri. Both sides discussed ways of activating mutual cooperation and coordination in regional and international meetings and exploiting training programs either held by the two sides or in cooperation with other bodies, e.g. the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, the High Commissioner for Human Rights or UN agencies on human rights.
The panel thanked the Qatari NHRC for its role in bringing the views closer and supporting national institutions in performing their duties based upon Paris Principles organizing the work of national human rights institutions to enhance and protect human rights.
