Statement by NIHR Chairperson on the occasion of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Institution (NIHR), highlighted that the Kingdom of Bahrain is making substantial national efforts to combat human trafficking at various levels, including legislative, regulatory, administrative, and judicial. These initiatives are part of the broader reform project initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and involve ongoing work led by the government under His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with all pertinent ministries and governmental bodies.
On the occasion of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Alderazi underscored the commitment of NIHR to monitoring and ensuring compliance with international conventions and treaties ratified by Bahrain that address this crime. He also advocated for the ongoing development of laws and regulations to keep up with technological advancements and the dynamics of communication between traffickers and victims, particularly children. He emphasized the crucial role of families in educating and protecting their children from human trafficking.
