NIHR Looks Forward to Strengthening Cooperation with the “American Embassy” in Bahrain
Ms. Maria Khoury, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), held a videoconference meeting with Mrs. Margaret Nardi, Chargé d'Affairs of the United States Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, within the framework of the permanent cooperation between the NIHR and the American Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Ms. Khoury welcomed Mrs. Nardi, and the active and continuous cooperation with the American embassy, and praised the level of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the friendly United States of America, reviewing at the same time the NIHR’s efforts under the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) through the field visits conducted by the members of the NIHR’s Council of Commissioners on an ongoing basis to isolation and quarantine centres, correction and rehabilitation centers, and detention places.
The two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest, most notably the reports published by some organizations that do not reflect the reality of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the developments taking place in relation to the protection and promotion of human rights through national mechanisms. They also discussed strengthening cooperation and joint coordination to unify efforts in areas related to the protection and promotion of human rights.
For her part, Mrs. Nardi expressed her appreciation for the tireless efforts made by the NIHR to promote and protect human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, praising Bahrain’s efforts to promote peace in the region, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
