A Delegation of the NIHR Meets the Special Assistant to the High Commissioner for Human Rights
A delegation of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) which participated in the 27th round of the Universal Periodic Review of Bahrain, under the chairpersonship of Mr. Saeed bin Mohamed Al-Faihani, Chairperson of the NIHR, met Mr. Mohamed Al-Nesour, the Special Assistant to the High Commissioner for Human Rights and MENA Director, on the sidelines of the delegation’s current visit to Geneva.
At the beginning of the meeting, the NIHR’s Chairperson presented a brief on the Royal Order No. (23) of 2017 on the formation of members of the council of Commissioners, as well as the elections made during the procedural meeting, during which the NIHR’s Chairperson and Vice chairperson were elected, and the modifications made to the NIHR’s Establishment Law by virtue of Royal Decree No. (20) of 2016, in compliance with the feedback of the Sub-Committee on Accreditation (SCA) of the Global Alliance for National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).
NIHR’s Chairperson also stressed the importance of partnership with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the activation of the Capacity-Building Program either for members of the council of Commissioners or the Staff of the General Secretariat, as well as the holding of joint training programs that aim to spread the culture of human rights in the society.
