NIHR conducted a field visit to the Detention Center at the Hamad Town Police Station.
The Detention & Facilities Visitation Committee of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) conducted a field visit to the detention center at the South Hamad Town Police Station within the Northern Governorate Police Directorate. The visit aimed to assess the general conditions of the detainees and ensure that they are afforded their rights, as guaranteed by national legislation and international human rights standards.
During the visit, officials provided a detailed explanation of the legal procedures in effect at the center. This was followed by a tour of the facilities and detention rooms for the delegation, which also included meetings with some detainees to listen to and record their observations, and to prepare appropriate recommendations for submission to the competent authority.
