Chairman of the NIHR Receives Representative of the Embassy of Canada accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain
Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has received Mrs. Camelia Akoush, representative of the Canadian Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, residing in Riyadh, at the NIHR headquarters in the Seef district.
At the beginning of the meeting, Al-Derazi presented an overview of the NIHR’s mechanism of action and its role in spreading, promoting and protecting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He touched on a number of issues of common concern, and the NIHR’s role in dealing with these issues to find out the most important facts and events, as well as the continuous coordination with the competent official authorities in cooperation and coordination with civil society institutions in implementing training programmes to enhance human rights awareness among all segments of society.
Al-Derazi also discussed Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and the mechanism of its effective implementation by providing appropriate rehabilitation programmes for the convicts, reviewing the outcomes of the International Conference on Alternative Sanctions organised by the NIHR.
For her part, Mrs. Akoush expressed her thanks for the warm reception, stating the importance of the NIHR’s role in protecting and promoting human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people further progress and prosperity.
