NIHR Legal Clinic Students organize two Awareness Campaigns entitled "Digital Rights"

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)'s Legal Clinic students organized two awareness campaigns entitled "Digital Rights".  The theme of first campaign was "No to Cyber Bullying:  Make the Difference and Reject Abuse", which dealt with a number of topics related to the general concept of bullying and cyber bullying, its various types and the legal provisions that criminalized cyber bullying as well as social methods to reduce it in addition to an illustration of the competent authorities to report cybercrimes.  The second one's theme was "Electronic Blackmail - Be Careful", in which the students presented a detailed explanation about the motives of electronic blackmail, which are divided into two parts, financial and unethical motives, as well as the most important methods and means of electronic blackmail.  It also aimed at educating the society about methods of prevention of electronic blackmail and the legal texts organizing this phenomenon.  

The event was held at Water Garden City and was attended by Counsellor-at-Law Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR's Secretary General and a number of staff of NIHR Secretariat General.  A children’s corner was allocated for the distribution of coloring books on children's rights and brochures on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Children. 

This event is an activation of the memorandum of understanding with the University of Bahrain to support the legal clinic and human rights program, which aims to add a set of practical skills to the students of the College of Law through practical training that enables them to link academic education with reality.
