Statement by NIHR’s Acting Secretary-General on the Occasion of Royal Directives to address Humanitarian Cases

08 Jul 2017

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Acting Secretary-General Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadel stated that the Royal Order to address and care for humanitarian cases of Bahraini-Qatari joint families, despite the decision to boycott the State of Qatar due to its continued hostile actions against the Kingdom of Bahrain, comes from the deep faith of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, may God protect him, in family bonding among the GCC countries.

Dr. Al-Fadel pointed out that the human rights march in the Kingdom of Bahrain carries multiple bright signs in various fields, whether civil, political, economic, social or cultural, as a result of the wise leadership’s faith in human dignity.

He added that the aim of NIHR’s establishment in 2009 was and still is the concern by the King of the country with the dignity of citizens and residents alike, which is guaranteed by the Islamic Sharia and the established Arab traditions in our beloved country, as well as his emphasis for respect and promotion of the status of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain and upgrading such human rights in all areas.

Dr. Al-Fadel also stressed that the NIHR in the Kingdom of Bahrain, through its legal position and being part of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), is working closely to monitor the situation in order to ensure that the fundamental rights of the citizens of both countries are not infringed, noting at the same time that to date no person or family, whether Bahraini, Qatari or others, has submitted any complaints to the NIHR related to the consequences of severing the diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar.
