NIHR Conducts Field Visit to Dar Al Karama
In line with the broad mandate entrusted to the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) in the field of the protection and promotion of human rights, and the terms of reference assigned to it by virtue of its Law of Establishment, the NIHR Committee on Detention & Facilities Visitation has conducted an inspection visit to Dar Al Karama Homeless and Beggars Shelter of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, in order to examine the general conditions of residents and ensure their enjoyment of their rights guaranteed to them under national legislation and international human rights standards.
During the visit, a delegation of the Committee was briefed on the facilities of the shelter and listened to a briefing on the role of the shelter in combating beggary and homelessness as well as the mort essential procedures related to this issue, noting shelter’s efforts in providing all aspects of care and various services for beggars and homeless for the first time.
