Statement of the NIHR Chairperson on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain achieving Tier 1 in the field of combating human trafficking for the seventh year in the U.S. Department of State report

Eng. Ali Ahmad Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), expressed his appreciation for the comprehensive efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to combat human trafficking at all levels—legislative, regulatory, administrative, and judicial. These efforts are anchored in the reform initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and are further supported by the significant efforts of the respected government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with all relevant state ministries and agencies tasked with addressing this cross-border crime.

Alderazi noted that Bahrain's achievement of Tier 1 status in combating human trafficking for the seventh consecutive year in the U.S. Department of State report is a testament to the success of the kingdom's strategies and policies aimed at tackling human trafficking. This achievement signifies international recognition of the tangible progress made by the kingdom in this field, characterized by a holistic approach that includes the development of legislation, enhancement of institutional capabilities, and activation of international and regional cooperation to combat this phenomenon.

Alderazi affirmed that these integrated efforts enhance Bahrain's positive image and underscore its long-term commitment to human rights and the application of international law. He noted that this rating bolsters Bahrain's role as an active and responsible partner in the international community in combating transboundary crimes such as human trafficking. Furthermore, Alderazi reiterated the commitment of the National Institution for Human Rights to foster cooperation with all relevant entities to combat human trafficking, ensuring the optimal implementation of human rights.
